A raised hand stays in your browser
A raised hand is a note to the crew about the seat you want. When you raise your hand, the site saves it in your browser’s own storage on your device. Nothing is sent to a server. It leaves your device only when you press the button that opens your email app and then send the email yourself.
A Signal stays in your browser
A Signal is a problem you send the crew, with proof that people want it. When you send a Signal, the site saves it in your browser’s own storage on your device. Nothing is sent to a server. It reaches the crew only when you send the email yourself. It stays on your device until you clear this site’s data in your browser.
What you send is used to reply and to run Orbit
Your name, email address and note reach the crew at crew@buildwithstrangers.com. We use them to reply to you and, if you join a build, to run Orbit, the first 30 days. We do not use them for anything else.
How long we keep it
Hands saved in your browser stay there until you delete them, with the button at the end of this list. Emails you send us are kept while a residency is open, plus 12 months, then deleted. If you don’t join a build, we delete your email 12 months after our reply.
Deleting your data
To delete what you emailed us, write to crew@buildwithstrangers.com. To remove the hands this browser saved, press the button. It does not touch emails you already sent.
Questions about any of this: crew@buildwithstrangers.com. Who owns what a build makes is on the terms page.
